Specialist therapy for hormonal and neurodiversity-linked mental health

Dr Helena Tucker · DClinPsy | HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist

Are you struggling with PMDD, perimenopause, menopause, or hormone-linked anxiety?

Hormonal shifts and neurodivergence can profoundly affect mood, identity, and relationships. You may feel overwhelmed by cyclical mood changes, heightened anxiety, emotional intensity, ADHD-related challenges, or increasing strain in your relationship.

These experiences are not random, and they are not a personal failure. They reflect patterns that can be understood and worked with.

With the right specialist support, things can change.

In therapy, we will explore what is driving your distress and build practical, sustainable strategies to help you feel steadier, clearer, and more like yourself again.

Who this therapy is for

Who this is for

This service is designed for adults and couples experiencing:

  • PMDD, PME or severe PMS
  • Perimenopause or menopause-related mood changes
  • Hormone-linked anxiety, depression or irritability
  • ADHD or autism in adults, particularly where this intersects with hormonal shifts
  • Relationship strain connected to cyclical mood changes or neurodivergence

This is focused, specialist therapy. It is not general counselling. The work centres on the interaction between hormones, psychology, and relationships.

Individual therapy

For individuals, therapy offers a structured space to:

  • Understand your cyclical patterns
  • Reduce symptom intensity and emotional fallout
  • Strengthen emotional regulation
  • Rebuild self-trust and confidence
  • Create steadier functioning at work and home

The aim is not perfection. It is steadiness.

Frequently asked questions

The first step is to complete the therapy enquiry form on this page. You will hear back from us within two working days.

We will be in touch within two working days. Depending on your enquiry, you may be invited to book an initial therapy session directly, or offered a free 15-minute introductory call. This is not a therapy session. It is a brief conversation to clarify your needs, answer any questions, and make sure working together feels like a good fit before you commit.

If you are self-funding, the fee is £150 per session (50 mins). If you are using health insurance, different fees may apply depending on your provider. Please see the insurance question below for more details.

Yes. Dr Helena Tucker is a recognised provider with Bupa and WPA. If you are using insurance, please ensure you have an authorisation code from your insurer before your first session, as we are unable to proceed without one.

Everything you share is held in strict confidence in line with GDPR and the ethical standards of the British Psychological Society and HCPC. Your details will never be passed to third parties without your explicit consent. All records are stored securely, and confidentiality is a cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship.

If we are not currently taking on new clients, we will let you know promptly. Where we can, we will help point you towards a colleague or service that may be a good fit. We cannot always guarantee a referral, but we will never simply leave you without a response.

I work within a defined area of specialism, so this service will not be the right match for everyone. If that is the case, we will say so honestly and, where we can, suggest a colleague or point you towards a more suitable service. The triage call exists partly for this reason. It means we can talk things through before you commit to a full session, and help direct you appropriately if needed.

The first session is an assessment. We use the time to explore what you are experiencing, understand your background, and clarify what you are hoping therapy will help with. It is also a chance for you to get a feel for how we work. You do not need to prepare anything in advance.

No. Many people we work with are in the process of seeking a diagnosis, or have a strong sense that PMDD, perimenopause, or ADHD is playing a role but do not yet have formal confirmation. If your difficulties fit the areas we specialise in, we can explore whether this service is right for you.

This is therapy. Dr Helena Tucker is a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist and the work offered is evidence-based psychological therapy, drawing on CBT, ACT, CFT, and other approaches. It is not coaching or general wellbeing support.

Yes. Many people we work with take medication for PMDD, depression, anxiety, ADHD, or hormonal conditions. Medication and therapy often work well alongside one another. We do not prescribe or advise on medication, but we are experienced in working alongside medical treatment.

This varies depending on what brings you to therapy and what you are hoping to achieve. Some people benefit from a focused short-term piece of work over a few months; others find longer-term support more helpful. This is something we will discuss together as we go.

Yes. Couples therapy is available where one or both partners are navigating hormonal changes, neurodivergence, or the relational impact of cyclical mood difficulties. The focus is on building mutual understanding and more stable communication, rather than general relationship counselling.

Is this the right fit?

This service is designed for adults and couples who want focused, specialist support for hormonal and neurodiversity-linked mental health.

It is likely a good fit if you:

  • want focused, evidence-based psychological work
  • are motivated to engage in therapy
  • are not in immediate crisis
  • are seeking specialist support rather than general counselling

If you are experiencing acute risk, active suicidal intent, or require urgent support, please contact your GP, local crisis service, or emergency services.

Next step

If this feels aligned with what you are looking for, the next step is to complete the therapy enquiry form.

After reviewing your enquiry, I may invite you to:

  • Book an initial therapy session
  • Arrange a 15-minute introductory call to see whether working together feels like a good fit

The brief call is an opportunity to clarify your needs and ask questions. It is not a therapy session, but a space to ensure alignment before committing to ongoing work.

You will receive a response within three working days.
